  The Key to Success

by Robert T. Stephan

In any endeavor you must commit to conduct yourself in a way that spells integrity and a desire to succeed. There are many definitions of success, but I have always looked at the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson who defined what it means to succeed.

He said: “To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded.”

The first step in gaining the respect of intelligent people and earning the appreciation of honest critics is to conduct your personal and business life in accordance with the rule of law and common decency. The ACN Policies and Procedures are about accomplishing both. They set out a code of business conduct that not only adheres to existing laws but that conforms to the best in human conduct.

In acquiring both customers and Independent Representatives you must be honest in your dealings and not guarantee or promise any income from the business plan. Be honest about the start up cost, and remember that customers and representatives who sign up must fill out the appropriate forms themselves. Also remember, ACN insists that all prospective Independent Representatives be aware that not everyone is guaranteed success, and that it takes hard work and dedication to be successful.

It is often said by successful Independent Representatives that the greatest joy and benefit of the business is the opportunity to help others have a better life. Who could ask for more? The Independent Representatives who pass on their success to others do indeed succeed. As Emerson stated, they succeed because they have made another life breathe easier because they have lived and because they have shared.

That is what it means to succeed.
