The Consumer Protection Division in the offices of Attorneys General is just one link in a coordinated effort by state, federal and local enforcers to safeguard consumers from many areas covered by consumer protection laws. The National Association of Attorney General (NAAG) co-sponsored the Fifth Annual National Consumer Protection Week 2003 (NCPW 2003).
The theme for NCPW 2003 is “Information Security: Putting the Pieces Together.” The focus is on the devastating effects on consumers when their personal and financial information is used in a way that harms them. Each person has a right to expect that his or her personal and financial information will not be disclosed publicly and increase the likelihood of economic injury or personal security.
ACN applauds the efforts of all governmental and private entities that are working to provide a safe environment for the nation’s consumers. Recognizing the need to protect the privacy of its customers, ACN has posted a privacy policy.
ACN Does Not Sell, Rent or Lease Personal Information
ACN collects personal information in order to supply services to its customers. ACN does not sell, rent or lease personal information to third parties. From time to time ACN is required to report to regulatory bodies or to present a summary of all our customer information, including personal information, in statistical or analytical form, to governmental authorities and industry organizations. When information is provided in statistical or analytical form, this means information that might specifically identify you will not be disclosed.
ACN has implemented technology and security features and strict policy guidelines to safeguard the privacy of our customer’s identifiable information from unauthorized access or improper use, and we will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available.
ACN honors requests from customers to review all customer identifiable information maintained in reasonably retrievable form, which currently consists of your name, address, email address, telephone number and/or billing information, and will correct any such information which may be inaccurate. Customers may verify that appropriate corrections have been made.
ACN Complies with Federal Laws and Regulations
ACN complies with all federal laws and regulations, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which requires the consent of a parent or guardian for the collection of personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age.
The goal of ACN is to do everything possible to safeguard the personal information of all its customers and to cooperate with government agencies in that endeavor.
